I absolutely loved this book!! So many memories, you see, the Author, Warren G. Helm was my Uncle and I always thought the world of him! He was a wonderful person who loved life and his Family was very important to him as was his faith in God. I would highly recommend this book!
Warren tells the story of becoming a man in Indiana and then flying B-17 bombers in World War 2. He went from the son of a preacher to a war hero winning the Distinguished Flying Cross for getting his entire crew back from a bombing mission on only one of four engines. This is the story of a humble man who loved his country and survived over 30 bombing missions including being among the first bomber waves hitting the German homeland and Berlin. It is a wonderful human interest story with the excitement of Twelve O'Clock High.
